Will QAS work with unix services for unix (SFU) ?
While there are no known conflicts between the SFU and QAS software it should be noted that because QAS utilizes the same attributes for Unix information as SFU there could be conflicts user and group attributes. Our suggestion is to use workstation mode, with all QAS desired users put into a group, and ws-mode-preload that one group.
workstation-mode = true
Default value: false
This option controls whether or not vasd operates in Workstation Mode, which is an alternate caching mechanism where only those users who actually log in are cached on the system. This option is set to false by default. When set to true, vasd will not load all available users, but instead will cache users as they log in or are requested by applications through the getpwnam() function. Groups are initially cached without their full group memberships, which are then updated as users log in. This option is useful for deployments on systems like laptops that will be used by very few individuals and avoids the overhead of caching all the available users. Workstation mode is supported when vasd is in UPM Mode.
Note that you can set this option to true when running vastool join with the -w vastool join option. You should run vastool flush whenever changing the workstation-mode option. The following example shows how to enable Workstation Mode.
[vasd]
workstation-mode = true
workstation-mode-users-preload = [<domain>\]<samAccountName>[, [<domain>\]<sAMAccountName>]...
Default value: none
The users-preload option allows a specific set of users to be loaded into the cache based on membership in Active Directory groups. These groups can be specified by either samAccountName, in which case they will be loaded from the default domain ignoring group-search-path, or in the format <domain>\<samAccountName> in which case they will be loaded from the specified domain. Once a group is found, the member attribute is traversed for Unix-enabled users to cache.
Note that only direct memberships are processed; nested membership will not work for this setting.
