How to archive iologs -

The disk space taken up by the following directory is growing too large: /var/opt/quest/qpm4u/iolog/Is there a way to archive the iologs contained under this directory? -
Resolution
The iologs are just normal files and therefore can be moved or copied using standard Unix commands.- Stop the pmserviced service and wait for any running pmmasterd processes to stop on the policy server where the iologs are located.
- You can then back up the entire iolog directory using this command:# cp -r /var/opt/quest/qpm4u/iolog /backup- Restart pmserviced.
If you just want to move certain files, then you can create a custom command string to find only the required files.The iologs have a date stamp within the filename which can be used for this purpose.
EXAMPLE 1:
The following command will find files created in January 2017 and move them to the new location (/archive/201701/):
# find /var/opt/quest/qpm4u/iolog –name \*201701\*” | xargs -i{} mv {} /archive/201701
Note that the use of xargs may vary depending on the operating system.
EXAMPLE 2:Another option is to use the file creation time to find the required files.The following command will find all iolog files that are older than 30 days and put them into a directory called /archive:# find /var/opt/quest/qpm4u/iolog –type f -mtime +30 | xargs -i{} mv {} /archive
If you need to determine the corresponding eventlog entry from the iolog then do the following:- Run the pmreplay command:
# /opt/quest/sbin/pmreplay
- Press v
- Take a note of the 'uniqueid' variable shown
- Run the following pmlog command to show the event entry for this uniqueid:
# /opt/quest/sbin/pmlog --uniqueid
Note that if you have moved the event log then you need to use the '-f ' option with pmlog
