The Microsoft Windows Attachment Manager routinely blocks files that have been downloaded from the Internet. A zipped archive (or a self-extracting executable), which is blocked will also stamp all files contained in the archive as blocked when they are extracted. Blocked files can create many undesirable consequences at runtime. Therefore, it is important to ensure that any files originating from the Internet are unblocked prior to extraction or execution.
Status:
This issue is resolved in version 11.0.0.463 of Desktop Authority.
Workaround:
If on a Desktop Authority version earlier than 11.0.0.463, please follow the steps below.
How to verify if a file is blocked:
On the General tab, look at the bottom right corner for an Unblock button. If the button exists, that means that the file is blocked and must be unblocked before using it or extracting it. A security message stating: “This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer” will also be present on the left side of the Unblock button.
How to Unblock a file:
After performing the procedure above, check the file Properties again, to verify that the Unblock condition was applied successfully.
Important next step: If the installation file was run with the blocked condition, run the installation file again after Unblocking the file to overwrite all the files.
