CLOSE_WAIT for Incoming Connections When Using Flow-Control -
Description
When sending logs to Syslog-ng PE, the incoming connections show as CLOSE_WAIT and little to no logs are being processed. -
Cause
Flow-Control is configured, enabled, and is throttling incoming connections due to an issue/throttling at a destination linked to the source through the log statement. -
Resolution
Please ensure the destination defined for the source in question is not being throttled and/or is available.
If a destination is unavailable and flow-control is configured, the incoming connections will not be allowed.
If a destination cannot receive the logs as quickly as the Syslog-ng PE server is receiving them, flow-control will throttle logs at the source end and may cause connections to be rejected.
When flow-control is enabled, disk-buffers may or may not be buffering logs.
