This guide explains how to reset BMC (IPMI) passwords. -
Cause
There may be a number of reasons for changing the password of IPMI.
- Password loss.
- Regular changes required by company policies.

Resolution
- Connect to the host via SSH and from the menu select Shells, then boot shell
- Issue the following command:
ipmitool user list - Note the ID of the IPMI admin user
- Change the password with the following command:
ipmitool user set password
After this, you should be able to access the IPMI interface with the newly set password.
