Welcome to Quest One Quick Connect Express for Active Directory

Quest One Quick Connect Express for Active Directory allows you to connect Quick Connect Sync Engine to Active Directory domains, AD LDS (ADAM) instances, and Microsoft Lync Server to synchronize identity information between these data systems and other data systems managed by Quick Connect Sync Engine.

Quick Connect Express for Active Directory allows you to perform the following operations on external data systems:

  • Provision users
  • Update identity data
  • Deprovision users
  • Synchronize passwords between two Active Directory domains or from a source Active Directory domain to another connected system
  • Synchronize SID history between two Active Directory domains

New in This Release

Quick Connect Express for Active Directory now includes the Lync Server Connector. The Lync Server Connector previously was supplied as part of another Quick Connect package called Quest One Quick Connect for Lync Server.

By using the Lync Server Connector, you can configure Quick Connect Sync Engine to access Microsoft Lync Server and synchronize identity information between Microsoft Lync Server and other connected external data systems. For information on how to configure the Lync Server Connector and what data it can read and write in Microsoft Lync Server, see the Quick Start Guide supplied with this release.

The Lync Server Connector supplied with this release provides the following new features:

  • Support for Microsoft Lync Server 2013. The Lync Server Connector now allows you to connect to Microsoft Lync Server 2013 to read and write data in that data system. For a complete list of supported Lync Server object types and attributes, see the "Working with Lync Server" section in the Quick Connect Express for Active Directory Quick Start Guide.
  • Enhanced Support for Policies in Microsoft Lync Server. The Lync Server Connector now provides the following new functionality:
    - You can read and write data related to any custom user policies configured in Microsoft Lync Server, such as conferencing policy, client version policy, PIN policy, external access policy, and others.
    - You can assign policies to Microsoft Lync Server users by using the Members attribute provided by the Lync Server Connector for policy objects in Microsoft Lync Server.

Resolved Issues and Enhancements

This section provides a list of issues resolved and enhancements implemented in this release of Quick Connect Express for Active Directory.

TF00252312
Enhancement: The GUI of the Lync Server Connector now provides simplified connection settings: The options for selecting an Active Directory forest topology and managing Lync Server shadow accounts in Active Directory have been removed.
To manage Microsoft Lync Server shadow accounts in Active Directory, you can now use the Active Directory Connector supplied with this connector pack.

Known Issues

The following is a list of issues known to exist at the time of this Quick Connect Express for Active Directory release.

TF00266466
After upgrading from Quick Connect for Lync Server to Quick Connect Express for Active Directory, you may observe the following unexpected behavior in the list of installed programs (appwiz.cpl): The "Quest One Quick Connect for Lync Server" or "Quest One Quick Connect for Lync Server (64-bit)" item may still be present in the list.
WORKAROUND
In the list of installed programs (appwiz.cpl), select "Quest One Quick Connect for Lync Server" or "Quest One Quick Connect for Lync Server (64-bit)" item, and then do one of the following:
- In Windows Server 2003 or 2003 R2, click Remove.
- In a later version of Windows, click Uninstall.

Upgrade and Compatibility

You can upgrade to Quick Connect Express for Active Directory version 5.3.0 from the following products:

  • The options for selecting an Active Directory forest topology and managing Lync Server shadow accounts in Active Directory are removed from the GUI of the Lync Server Connector.
