Welcome to Quest One Quick Connect Express for Active Directory

Quest One Quick Connect Express for Active Directory allows you to connect Quick Connect Sync Engine to Active Directory forests, domains, AD LDS (ADAM) instances, Microsoft Exchange Server, and Microsoft Lync Server to synchronize identity information between these data systems and other data systems managed by Quick Connect Sync Engine.

Quick Connect Express for Active Directory allows you to perform the following operations on external data systems:

  • Provision users
  • Update identity data
  • Deprovision users
  • Synchronize passwords from an Active Directory domain to another domain or some other data system
  • Synchronize SID history between two Active Directory domains

New in This Release

Quick Connect Express for Active Directory provides the following new features:

  • Support for Microsoft Exchange Server. Quick Connect Express for Active Directory now includes the Exchange Server Connector. By using the Exchange Server Connector, you can configure Quick Connect Sync Engine to access Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, 2010, or 2013 and synchronize identity information between Microsoft Exchange Server and other connected external data systems. For information on how to configure the Exchange Server Connector and what data it can read and write in Microsoft Exchange Server, see the Quick Connect Express for Active Directory Administrator Guide supplied with this release.

Resolved Issues and Enhancements

The following is a list issues resolved and enhancements implemented in this release of Quick Connect Express for Active Directory.

TF00334260
Enhancement: Now you can use the Active Directory Connector to connect Quick Connect Sync Engine to one or more Active Directory forests. For each Active Directory forest connection, you can configure individual synchronization scope. When synchronizing data to or from a connected forest, Quick Connect Sync Engine automatically selects the appropriate domain controllers in the forest to read and write data according to the synchronization scope configured for the connection.

Known Issues

The following is a list of issues known to exist at the time of this Quick Connect Express for Active Directory release.

TF00283492
Unexpected behavior when you use an attribute of type "String, Object Reference" provided by the Exchange Server Connector to update data in Exchange Server:
Quick Connect updates data in Exchange Server each time you run the synchronization workflow step that includes the attribute, even through no data synchronization is required.
This issue only occurs if all of the following is true:
- You synchronize data from a source string attribute to the target attribute of type "String, Object Reference" provided by the Exchange Server Connector.
- The source string attribute value can take a number of formats, including Canonical DN.
- The source string attribute value is specified in any other format except Canonical DN.
For example, this issue may manifest itself when you do the following:
1. Run a synchronization step that updates data in Microsoft Exchange Server.
2. When the synchronization step completes, run the step again.
Observed result: The synchronization step updates the same attribute value as in step 1, even though the attribute value requires no synchronization.
WORKAROUND
Make sure the source attribute value is specified in the Canonical DN format.
