The backup process:
TPAM does a file system snapshot as part of daily backups. A Windows OS event caused the snapshot to fail which caused Windows to delete the factory restore point. We depend on the Windows OS to manage the restore points and since the factory restore point is created using Microsoft tools, Microsoft can decide to remove them when it wants. Typically we are aware that this only happens when the appliance is under extreme disk space pressure.
If there isn't a disk space issue, it is possible that the snapshot failed and the Windows OS considered the restore point to be corrupted and removed it. The TPAM backup reports a failure because the Windows snapshot failed.
The TPAM administrator can decide to trigger a manual backup after receiving the alert.
