Error: "The PAR Health and Welfare terminated process EPHD Login because it has been running for more than 30 minutes. This alert was generated at <DATE> <TIME>""
The PAR Health and Welfare terminated the "EPHD Login" process as it has been running for more than 30 minutes.
The encryption of the appliance has to be told to allow a reboot without prompting for credentials. This is the EPHD Login (Encryption Plus Hard Disk) process. When the encryption manager doesn’t respond to the commands over a long period of time, this error occurs. This usually indicates that there is a high volume of disk usage and sql queries that result in alerts shown that the “number of concurrent queries have exceeded”.
This is a trickledown effect that eventually affects performance because the sql governor is adding time to each query in order to adhere to its internal policies. Once this happens, where the EPHD login process is terminated, the device is no longer told it can reboot without an encryption prompt. That is why after a reboot, the credentials need to be entered.
In most cases, the problem is exaggerated because when a query doesn’t come back in a timely manner the client closes the browser and attempts to query again. The first query is still being executed, so the number of concurrent queries continue to increase until a number is reached where the appliance seems to not be responding. It can become a vicious cycle that may not be broken until enough time has passed, or the device is rebooted.
Allow time for the appliance to finish it's processing and if the issue does not resolve itself, reboot the appliance.
