TPAM changing root password required the old password HPUX (4257787)

Need to manage the root account on a HPUX trusted system

Before the root account can be managed, the TPAM appliance must first know what the password is for root. This can be done by resetting the password in PAR | Manage Accounts, this will generate a password to be manualy changed on the target system. Once this has been done and confirmed in PAR automatic password changes can be made.

This will handle the requirement to enter the old password, and also the additional prompts seen on HPUX trusted systems, e.g.

pronounceable passwords generated for you (g)
a string of letters generated (l) ?
to pick your passwords (p) ?
