After installing JRE 8 update 202 and above PSM sessions fail with error "Unable to launch the application":
Clicking on the Details | Exception tab shows the following error:

Cause
This is due to a change in behaviour of caching with Java after 8u202, In this version and above Java performs a HTTP HEAD instead of HTTP GET on the Java JAR file. TPAM did not support the HTTP HEAD.
From Java change log:"➜ Changes in Update Process of Java Web Start Cached ObjectsThe update mechanism of cached Java Web Start objects has been slightly changed. Now Java Web Start issues HTTP HEAD request instead of GET to test whether the updates for cached object are available or not. The downloading of the updates did not change and keeps working in the same way as before." -
Resolution
WORKAROUND
Clearing the Java cache and disabling caching will allow Java to launch
To perform this:1. Browse to the Windows Control Panel.2. Open the Java Control Panel.3. On the "General" tab, click on the Settings button under "Temporary Internet Files"4. Click "Delete Files".5. Select all the 3 options and then click OK- Trace and Log Files- Cached Applications and Applets- Installed Applications and Applets.
6. Untick "Keep temporary files on my computer"
