- User logs in to any one of the TPAM interfaces
- Browser session times out after a period of time
- The following error message appears when attempting to log back in using the same session:
"Your session has timed out or been disconnected. Please close this browser and open a new one to reconnect"
This is a Third Party Known Issue from the Release Notes
IE 8/9 and Session Time Out Session times out for a user logged in to TPAM. The user tries to log back in and gets the message
"Your session has timed out or been disconnected. Please close this browser and open a new one to reconnect"
You must close all open browsers before you can log back in to TPAM.
This is related to the browser used to connect to TPAM web interfaces. The browser uses cookies to store the credentials when the initial authentication is made. If the session expires, the browser's cache will need to be completely cleared in order to reauthenticate.
The following are all possible workarounds using Internet Explorer (IE) and Mozilla Firefox:
1. Closing all current internet browser sessions and opening a new browser session using Start | Programs - Select Browser of choice (Firefox or IE). Using the "Quick Launch" icons on a user task bar is not sufficient to create the new session required and enable a successful log on.
2. The user can click File | New Session when they have an open Internet Explorer session open. This will start a new browser session without the shared data of the other browsers.
3. Users can setup an Internet Explorer shortcut with the following flag added "-nomerge":
Example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nomerge
This shortcut will open a new session that does not share data with other open browser sessions.
4. Making use of the "Inprivate" browsing sessions available with internet browsers. This keeps a separate cache from standard browser sessions. So if the inprivate session expires, the window can be closed and a new inprivate window opened to log back in.
