How to configure an Archive Server to maintain an external copy of your backups
To schedule regular backups of TPAM, login to the /paradmin interface and go to the Backup menu and select Modify Backup Settings. Ensure that the Enabled? option is checked, and select the frequency and start time from the Schedule portion of the backup configuration.
By default, backup files are stored on the TPAM appliance. Optionally, these files can also be sent to external storage, where they can be archived or managed by external processes.
It is strongly advised that backups be configured for transfer to an archive server. In the event of disaster recovery, it may be necessary to have a recent backup safely stored offline.
Available archive servers may be selected from the drop-down list. Archive servers must be pre-defined before they will appear in this list.*
Backup activity results can be sent via email to an address configured under Additional Options. Emails may be sent for all results or only failed results, as selected.
* To configure an Archive Server, login to the /paradmin interface, go to System Status / Settings and select Archive Servers.
Full instructions for configuring an Archive Server can be found in the Configuration and Administration Manual. For version 2.3 it is section "18.6 Archive Servers" on page 61. For version 2.4 it is section "19.6 Archive Servers" on page 69.
