Managing Cache Server permissions using the Accounts and Users tabs -
Description
To add access permissions for Cache servers, an Administrator would be required to assign and enable the managed accounts (under Accounts tab), assign a cache user (under the Users tab) and then add permissions (Clicking Permissions button) to select a combination of (Accounts | Cache Users | Hosts) in order for the request to complete successfully. -
Resolution
RESOLUTION:
Here is a brief description and the expected behavior related to the selection or de-selection of check boxes available under the Accounts and Users tab for a Cache server:
1. Accounts tab:
- Assigned? check box:If selected, the account is assigned to this cache server. Pressing the Ctrl key and selecting one row will select all or clear all check boxes in the column.- Warning: if the "Assigned" box for an account is unchecked, this action will remove the permissions associated with that Account.- Attempt to access an unassigned account will result with:
Return code = 103, password = This system/account is not assigned to this PAR Cache.
- Enabled? check box:If selected, the password for this account can be retrieved from the cache server. Pressing the Ctrl key and selecting one row will select all or clear all check boxes in the column.- if the "Enabled" box for an account is unchecked, this action will *not* remove the permissions, however, it will disable access to the password for the unchecked account.- Attempt to access an account with the "Enabled" being unchecked will result in error below:
Return code = 104, password = This system/account is disabled.
2. Users tab:- Assigned? check box:The Users tab is where you configure the users that can access the cache server. Select the Assigned? box next to the users for this cache server and click the Save Changes button to assign the user to the cache server.- Warning: if the "Assigned" box for a user is unchecked, this action will remove the permissions associated with that User.- If the user is *not* assigned to a cache server then attempts to access an account password with that unassigned user will result with:
Return code = 101, password = Client certificate does not match any assigned users.
- If the user is still assigned but with no permissions added then attempts to access an account password with that user will result with:
Return code = 105, password = No permission exists for this account/user/host combination.

Additional Information
BFER 10409 has been submitted to request an enhancement to add a pop-up message to alert an admin that may inadvertently de-selects the list of accounts or users (using CTRL + Click) and if saved, these changes can cause the removal of Cache server permissions associated with these accounts or users that were unchecked from the list.
