How to Enable Debug Logging on Script Modules -
Description
When creating custom script modules, it's sometimes necessary to be able to debug your script if it's not working as expected. -
Cause
Debugging can be enabled directly on individual script modules. -
Resolution
In the Active Roles Console, navigate to the script modules container.
- Configuration | Script Modules
- Right-click the script module you wish to enable debugging on, and click Properties.
- Click the Debugging tab.
- Check the box for Enable Debugging and select a Debug trace level from the dropdown list.
- Click Ok.
Your script will now store debugging information in the debug log. The debug log can be viewed from the same Debugging tab as previously mentioned. Clicking the View Log... button will open the debug log. In the Debug Log window, you have the option the clear the log by clicking the Clear Log button.
Please note that the debugging information displayed in this log is coming from the PowerShell Engine so you may not see as much information as you would see as when debugging within the Microsoft PowerShell IDE or a PowerShell command window.
