How to create base objects

To add a base object using an existing database object

  1. Select the Configuration > Base objects category.

  2. Click in the document view toolbar.

  3. Edit the base object's main data.

  4. Click OK.

If the base object does not yet exist in the One Identity Manager database, use the wizard to create a base object.

NOTE: The wizard is only available to target systems that are contained in One Identity Manager as default modules. The wizard cannot be used in synchronization projectsClosed with the CSV connectorClosed or the generic database connectorClosed.

To add a base object using a wizard

  1. Select the Configuration > Base objects category.

  2. Click in the document view toolbar.

  3. On the welcome page, click Next.

  4. On the System access page, specify how One Identity Manager can access the target system.

    • If access is possible from the workstation on which you started the Synchronization EditorClosed, do not change any settings.

    • If access is not possible from the workstation on which you started the Synchronization Editor, you can establish a remote connection.

Enable the Connect using remote connection server option and select the server to be used for the connection under Job serverClosed.

  5. Select the system connection for the new base object on the Create system connection page.

Follow the system connection wizard instructions. For more information about the connection parameter you require, see the administration guides of the respective target systems.

  6. On the Synchronization server page, select the synchronization serverClosed to run synchronization.

If the synchronization server is not declared as a Job server in the One Identity Manager database yet, you can add a new Job server.

    • Click to add a new Job server.

    • Enter a name for the Job server and the full server name conforming to DNS syntax.

    • Click OK.

The synchronization server is declared as Job server for the target system in the One Identity Manager database.

NOTE: After you save the synchronization project, ensure that this server is set up as a synchronization server.

  7. Click Finish to complete the wizard.

The wizard creates a variable set with the given connection parameters. It creates the synchronization base object, for example, the actual Active Directory domain you want to synchronize, as an object in the One Identity Manager database.

How to edit base objects

To edit a base object

  1. Select the Configuration > Base objects category.
  2. Select a base object in the document view and click .
  3. Edit the base objects's main data.
  4. Click OK.

How to delete base objects

To delete a base object

  1. Select the Configuration > Base objects category.
  2. Select a base object in the document view and click .
  3. Confirm the security prompt with Yes.

Properties of base objects

Enter the following properties for a base object.

Table 66: Properties of base objects

Property

Description

SynchronizationClosed has no base object

Defines whether a specific base object is required for synchronization.

If this option is set, a specific object cannot be selected from the base table.

Base table

Select the table from which to select the base object, for example, ADSDomain.

Base objectClosed

Select the object from the base table formed by the base object for synchronization and provisioning processes.

Synchronization server

Select the synchronization serverClosed.

Server functionClosed

The server’s server function that synchronizes Single object synchronization and provisioning types. This allows parallel editing. If no server function is given, the synchronization server handles these processes.

Assign a customClosed server function.

Variable setClosed

Select the variable set that contains the connection parameter which corresponds with the base object. Variables from selected variable sets are displayed.

For each base objects there must be a start up configuration, which uses the same variable set.

Offline mode available

Specifies whether the target system can be flagged as temporarily offline. This makes it possible to respond to short-term system outages.
