Description

How to perform an Active Roles Synchronization Service in-place upgrade.
Resolution

1) Create a backup of the Synchronization Service configuration database

1.1.- Open Active Roles Synchronization Service Console

1.2.- Click on the settings (cog) icon

1.3.- Click Export Configuration

1.4.- Provide a configuration file name and path, and enter a password to encrypt the file with

1.5.- Click Ok

1.6.- When prompted the configuration profile is saved successfully click ok

2) Backup both Synchronization Service databases (config and data)

3) Install the Active Roles Server software using the following options:

3.1.- On the Ready To Upgrade screen, review the warning and carry out any necessary actions, then click Next

3.2.- Review the components to be upgraded, then click Upgrade

3.3.- Once the upgrade is complete, click Finish

4) Open the Active Roles Synchronization Service Console and review the configuration
