Database imports from SQL 2008 fail: Unable to host the Active Roles database on this SQL Server version -
Description
After a successful installation of Active Roles 7.4.x or later, the following error is observed when attempting to specify the source database during configuration or management history imports, and the source database is hosted on SQL 2008 R2 or earlier:
Verification FailedUnable to host the Active Roles database on this SQL Server version. Active Roles requires one of the SQL Server versions listed in the System Requirements for the Active Roles Administration Service (see Active Roles Release Notes). -
Cause
Support for SQL 2008 has been discontinued as of Active Roles 7.4.x. The Active Roles Configuration Center is unable to make connections to any unsupported SQL versions.

Resolution
Defect ID 219175 has been raised with the Active Roles Product Team to clarify the error verbiage.
When importing from a SQL 2008 database, the following workarounds may be used:
WORKAROUNDBackup the Active Roles database(s) hosted on SQL 2008 and restore them to a SQL 2012 or later server. When performing the import, select the copied databases as the source.
