Missing Exchange Tabs in ActiveRoles Server after moving to Office 365 -
Description
Some environments may decide to remove on-prem Microsoft Exchange servers in favor of hosted Office 365 mailboxes. When the last mailbox server is removed or when Microsoft Exchange schema is removed from the environment, Active Roles will no longer display Microsoft Exchange information. -
Cause
This is by design. Active Roles 7.X and previous integrates with on-prem Microsoft Exchange servers, and much of the logic and processing of various attributes is handled by Microsoft Exchange in the background. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND 1
Leave at least one Microsoft Exchange server with Hub, CAS, and Mailbox roles in the environment.
WORKAROUND 2
Customize the Web Interface to create an interface which exposes any desired attributes.
NOTE: Merely exposing some attributes may not be sufficient. With no Microsoft Exchange server in the environment, there will be different logic governing the behavior of some attributes, especially those which are related to email. Custom Workflows and Policies may be required in order to achieve the desired results.
