After installing Active Roles, the following error is seen when attempting to launch the Active Roles Console:
When importing from another Active Roles database, the following error is also observed:
The Active Roles Administration Service is configured to use a Microsoft SQL Server Always On Availability Group (AOAG) and is connecting to the AOAG using a SQL Listener.
The following error may be seen in the Upgrade Configuration logs:
[CheckDbIsUpdated] :Error Generated. Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Invalid object name 'Settings'.
The Active Roles databases are not configured to be synchronized within the AOAG.
NOTE: This error can also be seen when the configuration database has been manually created prior to running the Active Roles upgrade when limited permissions are assigned to a service account. The configuration database will need to be properly formatted for Active Roles. Please see this link: How to: Precreate the ARS database before the installation
In the SQL Management Studio, confirm that the Active Roles Configuration and Management History databases show as "Synchronized" on the Microsoft SQL Server that currently holds the primary role for the AOAG.
If they are synchronized, confirm that the database has the expected table structure and is not blank.
If they are not synchronized, add the database to the AOAG as per this Microsoft resource.
Please contact Microsoft for assistance with these steps if needed.
