The Use Mapping option was introduced for automatic target container selection in the Target Container field (provisioning step) and Rules to Move Objects field (update step).
The Use Mapping option selects the target container based on the mapping rules configured for Organizational Units.
CONFIGURING MAPPING RULES
If you do not have the mapping rules for Organization Units configured yet, configure the rules as follows:
- In Quick Connect Administration Console, navigate to the Mapping tab
- Select the source Active Directory connection in the list
- Click Add Mapping Pair
- Under Connected System object type, select Organizational Unit and click Next
- Select the target Active Directory domain and click Finish, then Finish again to close the wizard
- Click on the organizationalUnit - OrganizationalUnit (target connection name) item in the list
- Click Add mapping rule
- Select Name (ou) for both source and target connections in the Define Mapping Rule diallog
- If you have the matching subtree already created in both source and target domains, you use the Map now option to test the newly created rules
Once the mapping rules for OUs have been configured and verified, you can select the Use Mapping option for target container in the provisioning and update steps.
REPLICATING OU SUBTREE
You can configure the sync engine to replicate the OU subtree from the source domain to the target as follows:
- Create a Provisioning step for organizational units:
- Select the source domain connection as the source and the target domain connection as the target.
- In that step, set the Target Container to the root OU of the subtree. The OU subtree will be replicated into that root container.
- Select objectGUID under Rules to generate unique object name for the target.
- In the same workflow, create an Update step for organizational units:
- The only rule in the Update step will be placed under Rules to Move Objects:
- In the same workflow, create another Update step for organizational units:
- The only rule in this Update step will be under Rules to Rename Objects:
- Rules to generate unique object name: ou
- Run the provisioning step and commit changes. This will create a flat OU list named with GUIDs.
- Run the Update step (Step 2) and commit changes. This will move the OUs according to the source OU structure.
- Run the Update step (Step 3) and commit changes. This will rename the OUs to their source names and therefore complete the replication.
