IIS App Pool stopping after installing July 2018 Security and Quality Rollup updates for .NET Framework -
Description
After installing Microsoft patches, the Active Roles Web Interface may show the following error message:
HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.
The Application Event Viewer logs may show an error similar to the following:
Faulting application name: w3wp.exe, version 8.5.8600.16384, time stamp: 0x5215df96Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.18938, time stamp: 0x5a7ddf0aException code: 0xe0434352Fault offset: 0x0000000000008aecThe System Event Viewer logs may show an error similar to the following:
Application pool 'ARWebAppPool' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool. -
Cause
There is a known issue in several Microsoft .NET updates released in July 2018, including but not limited to the following updates:

Resolution
WORKAROUND 1
Uninstall the affected .NET updates and restart the Active Roles Web Interface host.
STATUS.
Microsoft has updated and re-released the July 2018 .NET patches with fixes to address this issue.
