Attempting to Join Starling fails with the error message "An unexpected error has occurred. You may need to refresh your page (press F5)." -
Description
When clicking on the Join to One Identity Starling button in the Active Roles Configuration Center, the following error message is encountered:
An unexpected error has occurred. You may need to refresh your page (press F5).

Cause
The Active Roles Configuration Center is attempting to use an Internet Explorer window in kiosk-mode to connect to the Starling endpoint, and the local Internet Explorer security settings on the Active Roles host are interfering with expected functionality. -
Resolution
Add *.cloud.oneidentity.com to Trusted Sites in the Internet Explorer settings.
- In Internet Explorer, click Tools, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.
- In the Select a Web content zone to specify its current security settings box, click Trusted Sites, and then click Sites.
- In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type *.cloud.oneidentity.com and then click Add.
- Click OK two times to accept the changes and return to Internet Explorer.
If these settings are enforced by Group Policy and cannot be edited, then it will be necessary to edit the Group Policy to allow communications to the Starling endpoints from the Active Roles host. For more information on this option, please see this Microsoft resource.
