Remove Active Roles Administration Service instances after decommissioning host -
Description
After decommissioning an Active Roles Administration Service host, the Administration Service is still listed in the MMC Console. -
Cause
If an Active Roles Server is not uninstalled before the host is decommissioned, there are several places where records of the service still exist and need to be removed manually. -
Resolution
Using ADSI Edit, connect to the Default naming context and navigate to the following:
- Default naming context | <Domain DN> | CN=System | CN=Aelita | CN=Enterprise Directory Manager
Active Roles Server instances will be listed on the right. Right-click the decommissioned instance and click Delete. When prompted to confirm the deletion; click Yes.
** Note: It is recommended to perform a backup of your Active Roles database prior to performing the next steps.
Launch the Active Roles Administration console.
Raw Mode will need to be enabled to be able to edit the Administration Service entries listed here. To switch to Raw Mode, click the View menu and select Mode... Click Raw Mode and then click OK.
Navigate to the following:- Active Roles Server | Configuration | Server Configuration | Administration Services
Right-click the decommissioned instance and click Delete. When prompted to confirm the deletion of several objects; click Yes on each of the prompts.
