Unable to Install Active Roles Components That Do Not Require SQL OLE DB Driver such as MMC Console – Install Button Disable (4381015)

During the installation of Active Roles MMC Console 8.2.1, the setup wizard displays a prerequisite message instructing users to install the Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server (version 19.3.3 or newer).

However, even when selecting components that do not require SQL connectivity (such as the Console (MMC Interface) or Management Tools), the “Install” button remains disabled.

As a result, users are unable to proceed with the installation of these components, even though they do not depend on the SQL OLE DB driver.

This issue has been identified as a product defect and the following defect id #546298 has been assigned to our Active Roles Product team for consideration of inclusion within a future release of Active Roles.

WORKAROUND

Install the required component by using the .msi file located under the following folder path from the Active Roles media installation.

• .\Components\ActiveRoles MMC Console
• .\Components\ActiveRoles Management Shell

STATUS

Waiting for fix in a future release of Active Roles.
