How to properly rename the server where Active Roles is installed.

Resolution
It is possible to rename the Active Roles Server (ARS) in your environment. Perform ARS service re-install using the below steps:
1) Take a backup of your ARS configuration database.
2) Take a backup of the ARS management database (optional, if your Management History database is a separate database).
3) Run Web Interface Sites Configuration wizard and export your Sites (in case if they have been customized).
4) Uninstall the ARS Administration service.
5) Uninstall the ARS Web Interface
6) Rename the host server and make sure that all other services running correctly on the computer.
7) Run the ARS Administration service installation and follow the wizard.
8) On the Database and Connection Settings page in the Database area, configure the following settings:- SQL Server Identifies the SQL Server instance on which the database for the new Administration Service will be created.
- Database name (this is the name of the database to be created for the new Administration Service)
- Import data from this database Identifies the database of the Administration Service you are upgrading. To import data from that database to the database of the new
Administration Service, select the Import data from this database check box. The database from which to import data must be located on the SQL Server instance specified in the SQL Server box. If necessary, transfer the database to the desired SQL Server instance by using the instructions given earlier in this document (see “Moving Active Roles Server Databases from SQL Server 2000”). 9) When the ARS administration service process starts it imports the ARS configuration data to a new database with new server settings.
10) When it is done, confirm that it is still possible to connect to the ARS service using the ARS mmc.
11) Run ARS Web Interface installation and follow the wizard. When finished import the exported sites (optionally) or create a new sites if there were no customization on pre-defined sites.
12) Verify that it is possible to connect and logon to ARS service though the Active Roles Web Interface.
