In the Control Center the User’s Gid number is set the same as the UID number. And in a user’s Unix Account tab in Active Directory the field containing the users’ Primary GID Number is populated but the Primary Group Name is blank.
Can the Primary Group name be resolved to the User Name since both the UID Number and the GID number are the same?
When the User’s Gid number is set the same as the UID number, the users’ primary group is virtual on the individual Unix systems and does not exist in Active Directory. Therefore, it is not resolvable in Active Directory.
On a Unix system the following command should show a group with the user’s name and gid as the group name.
# /opt/quest/bin/vastool nss getgrgid
