The Active Roles service fails to start with "Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure." (4334278)

When attempting to start the Active Roles Administrator or Active Roles Synchronization Service, an error is encountered:

Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure.

Confirm that the correct password is known by logging into the host with that password or by launching an application by choosing to Run as different user

Once the correct password is confirmed, update the password on the Windows Service:

1. In an elevated command prompt, run services.msc
2. Right-click on the service and choose Properties
3. Select the Logon tab.
4. Browse for the account or enter it in the format of resource\username (for example: for a Domain account, us Domain\username, and for a machine account, use hostname\username)
5. Enter the confirmed password and click Okay
6. Start the service.
