To shut down or restart the appliance:
-The SafeGuard user that wishes to perform the shutdown or restart action must have the "Operations" permission which allows the user to reboot and monitor the appliance.
-From Settings, under the "Appliance" section select (click) "Appliance Information".
-Under the section "Power" enter a reason for the shutdown (or restart) action, then press the 'Shut Down" (or alternatively, the "Restart") button. After pressing this button, this will ask for further confirmation via typing "Shut Down" (or "Restart") in the provided window and pressing "OK".
-The LCD screen on the appliance show "LCD Service Terminating". If the action "Restart" was selected, the screen will show the run level status as the appliance starts.
Note that if the "Shutdown" option is used, you will require physical access to turn the appliance back on.
Alternatives to using the GUI to "Shutdown" or "Restart":
1. The appliance may be shutdown ore restarted via the web GUI in a similar manner using the "Shutdown" or "Restart" options under the "Power" section.
2. It is also possible to use the Swagger API (eg; https://ip_of_appliance/service/appliance/swagger/ui/index#!/ApplianceStatus/ApplianceStatus_RebootAppliance or https://ip_of_appliance/service/appliance/swagger/ui/index#!/ApplianceStatus/ApplianceStatus_ShutdownAppliance )
3. If the above methods are not accessible it is also possible to use the Recovery Kiosk to Reboot or Shutdown the appliance. For information regarding the Kiosk, refer to: How to connect to the appliance via the serial port ?
