What are the implications of manually changing the field dNSHostName in AD after a server is joined? -
Lösung
Is is important to understand that this change may impact GSSAPI/SSO operations that rely on the SPN values in AD/ADUC to have proper single host values even when the dnsHostName is a multivalue field in AD.
For this reason we recommend not to manually change the dnsNameHost value in AD and perform a rejoin with the -n <new name> instead.
The -n option allows you to specify a different name for the computer object than that which vastool would usually generate from your hostname. The computer name specified with the -n option should be either the fully qualified DNS name or the NETBIOS name for the computer object.Example:
vastool -u admin join -c "OU=Testlab,DC=example,DC=com" -n test_server example.com
