Error message received in Check Password:
The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'syslogins', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.
Unable to connect to System_Name to perform the check. Verify the network address, port, and Functional Account settings for the system.

Causa
Directory accounts as functional accounts require Public or the functional account to have permissions to the syslogins object.
This can occur when the default Public SELECT permission has been removed due to company policy.

Resolución
Confirm that the following roles are not assigned to the user: db_denydatawriter and db_denydatareader
Confirm that Public or the functional account has SELECT permissions on the syslogins object. This object is usually found in SQL: Databases | System Databases | master | Views | System Views | syslogins.
