During a reboot the Ipmon process selects the IP address from another Network interface card.
It then updates DNS with the incorrect IP address.
This occurs on servers that are configured with more than one Network Interface card.
The output of the following command will show which IP address is selected by Ipmon:
# /opt/quest/sbin/ipmond -v
Note that this command will also try to update dns, so use it carefully.
WORKAROUND:
Disable the Ipmon process.
For example on Linux you can disabled Ipmon with the following command:
# chkconfig ipmond off
