Password check on AIX fails when using Blowfish (4268660)

When running a password check against an AIX system using the Blowfish Hash Standard, the password check consistently fails with the below error:

"The password for <machinename> in PAR DOES NOT MATCH the managed system!"
 

Blowfish hash standard is not currently supported.

WORKAROUND

Change the encryption hash to a supported option which for AIX is MD5 or standard Crypt. TPAM v2.4.803 now supports the following Hash Standards:

• crypt
• sha1
• sha256
• sha512
• For MD5 it is required that lpa_options = std_hash=true

STATUS

Enhancement request BFER3533 has been submitted to Development for consideration in a future release of Quest TPAM.

TPAM 2.5 supports Blowfish encryption.
