On the machine hosting the Active Roles Web Interface, the IIS AppPool (ARWebAppPool by default) will frequently stop.
Application Event Viewer logs show errors similar to the following:
A worker process serving application pool 'ARWebAppPool' has requested a recycle because it reached its private bytes memory limit.
and
Application pool 'ARWebAppPool' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool.

Causa
The ARWebAppPool is recycling its private memory too often and exceeding the default settings.
The default private memory value is 1 GB. Any medium-to-large size organizations commonly hit 1 GB, some very frequently.When this happens, the AppPool will recycle memory. The issue lies in the fact that a memory recycle is considered to be an error by the IIS Rapid-Fail Protection feature which is enabled by default. So, if five recycles occur within five minutes, this will meet the default settings of Rapid-Fail Protection, which will stop the IIS service.For those, we can't give a recommended value because each environment's usage is going to be different. Therefore this is more of a trial and error on the specific environment.You can try increasing it 1 GB at a time until it reaches a point where the application pool is no longer recycling, and then add 1 GB more to allow for wiggle room. It is best to do this during normal usage times during the day for the most accurate results. -

WORKAROUNDIncrease the value allocated to the ARWebAppPool private memory.The current settings can be viewed in the IIS Manager:- Expand the host name and click on Application Pools
- Right-click on ARWebAppPool and choose Recycling...
- The value is noted under Private memory usage (in KB)
The default value is 0 (Unlimited).
