Auto update is used to upgrade job servers, front ends and web applications. When a hot fix, dll or upgrade of the software package is completed the files are updated in the Identity Manager database. To ensure that the other components receive those files the Auto Update is used to distribute these files.
To confirm that Auto update is enabled follow the steps below:
AllowOutOfTimeApps - This configuration parameter controls the behavior of the front end tools when an update occurs. There are four possible values.
0 - The front end user will be prompted that an update is required and the front end tool will shutdown immediately
1 - The front end user will be prompted that an update is required and will have the option to defer the update to a later time
2 - The front end user will be prompted that an update is required and will have the option to defer the update two times
3- The front end user will be prompted that an update is required and will have the option to defer the update three times
ServiceUpdateType - This configuration parameter controls how the job servers are updated. There are three possible values:
Auto - Job servers without parent job servers get their assemblies directly from the database, all others are delivered via the queue
DB - The assemblies are taken directly from the database
Queue - Assemblies are distributed as process parameters
Next check the web application for automatic updates.
C:\inetpub\wwwroot\IdentityManager\bin
Lastly open the job queue info application and login
C:\Program Files\One Identity\One Identity Manager
This tells us which job servers have the automatic update turned off
The auto update column tells us which web servers have automatic update enabled
