OLE DB provider Error: "The object is in a zombie state." (4331285)

If Identity Manager (1IM) and the History Database (HDB) are on different servers the following error may occur:

OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI11" for linked server "Q871D823ED92A7189DB58B68A26FC63EDCC8FF406" returned message "The object is in a zombie state. An object may enter a zombie state when either ITransaction::Commit or ITransaction::Abort is called, or when a storage object was created and not yet released.".

The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) has cancelled the distributed transaction.

This is a product defect (33541).
