ADSAccount email addresses are being appended with a '1'

ADSAccount email addresses are being appended with a '1'.  What process is setting the email address for ADSAccounts?

The default template for mail@ADSAccount will define the value for the email address based on the manage level of the ADSAccount.

For Unmanaged accounts (manage level 0), it will generate the email address from the SAMAccountName and append a '1' if there is a duplicate email address.

For Managed accounts (manage level 1), the email address is inherited from the Employee account value, DefaultEMailAddress@Person.

In the case of an account that is imported from the target system, the value will be as it exists in the target system.  This will not change until there is an account definition assigned that updates the manage level.

For email addresses that are appearing with a '1' (or greater), after the SAMAccountName, e.g.: jsmith1@domain.com, do a search for jsmith to confirm if there is already a record using jsmith@domain.com.

The template for mail@ADSAccount can also be customized so that email addresses conform to your company's requirements.  In the case of managed accounts, where the value is inherited from the Employee, the template for DefaultEmailAddress@Person can also be modified accordingly.
