There are specific actions, and operations that can be performed in both the Active Roles MMC Console and the Web Interface. This may also help in determining if the issue is Web Interface specific, or if it impacts both Active Roles components.
Web Interface Permissions
Whenever troubleshooting the Web Interface. It is recommended to use the highest level of permissions account for the Active Roles Web Interface. Full Administrator permissions may not have full access when dealing with multiple domains, and it is recommended to use a Domain Administrator user account.
Internet Browser troubleshooting
Active Roles 8.1.1 Web Interface guide recommends that the browser being used must have JavaScript, and cookies enabled: Web Interface Guide.
When possible use the incognito mode (New InPrivate window, or New Incognito window) when launching the Web Interface browser.
If you are getting an unexpected behavior enabling the developer tools in the browser may lead to specific errors that may not be visible until it is enabled. This can be enabled by pressing the F12 key when the browser is open. This screen can log or record all actions taking place in the browser when links or buttons are selected in real-time. This can also be helpful to submit to Technical Support when opening a Service Request for assistance.

Creating a new Web Interface test site may provide insight into if the existing web configuration is possibly corrupt, or not able to render specific images, buttons, or tabs. HOW TO: Create additional Active Roles Web Interface sites (144377)
Custom Web Interface troubleshooting
If the Active Roles Web Interface has customization missing after importing a previous configuration, custom logos, custom colors, and custom fonts. It may be necessary to copy over the files from a previous configuration prior to restoring the customization.
Hotfix patching for Active Roles
It is recommended to periodically check for new hotfix releases for Active Roles and to apply the latest hotfix when possible. Web interface updates may be included to enhance functionality, resolve known issues, or improve the overall user experience here: Active Roles - Download Software.
