HOW TO: View Change History of an object

Active Roles keeps a history of changes to objects made by the Active Roles Administration service. This can be very useful when performing audits and is also useful when automating tasks. Perform an operation once against a test object, then review Change History to see exactly which attributes were updated with which values. A script or Workflow can then be constructed which passes these same values for a number of objects.

To view the change history of an object in the Active Roles Console:

• First, locate the object.
• Right-click the object and select Change History from the context menu.

To view the change history of an object in the Active Roles Web Interface:

• First, locate the object.
• If the Menu is not visible, click the Menu tab on the left.
• Click the Change History link.

Please note that Change History entries may seem to be a bit out of order in some cases.  If you have workflows or scripts that fire based on user creation, they may complete before the process of creating the user registers as being complete.  In these situations, you may see the workflow or script actions before the user create action as it's based on completion time.
