Does Active Roles support a SQL Server Always On Distributed Availability Group?

Microsoft offers a SQL Server configuration called an Always On Distributed Availability Group

This configuration is documented in this Microsoft resource.

The Active Roles Administration Guide documents that Active Roles is compatible with an Always On Availability Group but makes no mention of support for an Always On Distributed Availability Group. Is this a supported configuration?

 

As of the publication date of this resource, an Always On Distributed Availability Group is not an officially supported configuration.

WORKAROUND

If a distributed SQL Server configuration is needed, please consider leveraging SQL Server Merge Replication.

STATUS

Enhancement Request 439835 has been created to test this SQL Server configuration with Active Roles and make any necessary product and documentation changes so that this becomes an officially supported configuration.

Product Management will evaluate the request and this feature may become available in a future release of the product.

There are no guarantees that this specific enhancement request will be implemented in a future release.
