Exchange Server 2010 offers five different server roles, but the Identity Manager documentation does not specify which of them can be used for synchronisation.

Synchronisation can be performed with either Mailbox Server (MBX) or Client Access Server (CAS). Hub Transport Server (HUB) as well as CAS/HUB combined servers are currently untested and not recommended.
