Safeguard provides customers with the ability to update dependent systems that run as a domain user account on a Windows asset. When Safeguard updates the password for a dependent account, then the changes is also applied to each Windows system that runs as the dependent account on the asset. This feature is only available for certain Windows systems, and on certain platform types.

The following platform types support managing Windows Services and Scheduled Tasks.
* Windows Desktop or Windows Server - (These platforms use WMI)
* Windows Desktop WinRM or Windows Server WinRM - (These platforms use WinRM)
* Windows Desktop SSH or Windows Server SSH - (These platforms use SSH)
The following platform types support managing COM+ and IIS App Pools* Windows Desktop SSH or Windows Server SSH - (These platforms use SSH)
From SPP version 7.2 and above, the following platform added support for Com+ and IIS App Pools:
* Windows Desktop WinRM or Windows Server WinRM - (These platforms use WinRM)
