"Value does not fall within the expected range" encountered when syncing to Active Roles or Active Directory from SQL (4323075)

When synchronizing data from a SQL table to Active Directory with SQL Server connector, if a source field contains non-null value, and the target attribute is not set in AD, synchronization fails with the following error:

"Value does not fall within the expected range"

This happens when a simple attribute-to-attribute workflow rule is set up in a provisioning or update step.

If a source field in SQL table contains non-null value, and the target attribute is not set in AD, Quick Connect attempts to set the target value to an empty string.

Some attributes in AD do not allow empty values.

WORKAROUND 1

Replace all the empty fields in SQL table with Null values.

WORKAROUND 2

Replace the simple attribute synchronization rule for the failing attribute with a rule to trim spaces from the source attribute:

1. In the Quick Connect console, select the Workflows tab
2. Select synchronization step that contains the failing attribute
3. Select Updating Rules tab
4. Under Rules to Modify Object Attributes, select Rule using a down arrow next to the Attribute button.
5. Select target attribute
6. Click Configure
7. Click Add
8. Select source attribute
9. Under Advanced Settings select Remove leading and trailing white space characters
10. Click OK
11. Click OK
12. Click OK
13. Click Save
