Version 8.0 and 8.1 getting WARNING: Configuration file format is too old, syslog-ng is running in compatibility mode (4381564)

Getting the below warning in version 8.0 and 8.1 of Syslog-NG PE even after changing the @version header to the corresponding version and passing a syntax check:

WARNING: Configuration file format is too old, syslog-ng is running in compatibility mode. Please update it to use the syslog-ng PE 8.1 format at your time of convenience. To upgrade the configuration, please review the warnings about incompatible changes printed by syslog-ng, and once completed change the @version header at the top of the configuration file; config-version='8.1

Syslog-ng PE Product Defect. ID number for tracking 649312

There is no impact to product functionality outside of the message itself and currently there isn't a workaround. 
Product defect ID 649312 will be fixed in a future version of Syslog-ng. 
At the time if this writing, December 11, 2025, there is no ETA.
