To evaluate SSB as a virtual appliance, you can download and install the latest SSB ISO file into a virtual machine. The following virtual environments are supported for evaluation: Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, and vSphere (VMware ESX). SSB may work in other virtual environments like VirtualBox or KVM as well, although these are officially not supported. You can obtain an evaluation license and the ISO file using your support portal account.
Before you start
Before you start evaluating SSB, make sure you understand what SSB is and how it works. This information can greatly help you get SSB operational. Read the following:

Downloading the evaluation version of SSB

Navigate to the syslog-ng Store Box Trial Licenses page.

Enter your Business Email and accept the license agreement.

Click Download Free Trial.
The panel extends with further fields.

Enter or select your First Name, Last Name, Job Title, Company, Country, City, State, Postal Code, Company Size, and Phone.

Click Download Free Trial again.
You will get an email with further information, and the screen automatically redirects to the available downloadable product versions on the Free Trial page:

If your email contains the license keys, download the syslog-ng Store Box ISO image from the Free Trial page.
NOTE: Alternatively, an SSB product specialist will contact you to provide you with the license keys and assist you with the installation of the product.
