SSB 7.2.0 is a minor release, with enhanced features and functionality. See New features.

New features

New features in SSB 7.2.0:

  • SSB will not reboot for the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keypress combination on a physical or virtual terminal. From now on, you can restart SSB via its own console on a physical or virtual terminal or via its own web interface.

  • Added a new minimum password strength level named Strict, with a configurable minimum password length of 15-35 characters.

  • Local users are now locked automatically after 3 consecutive authorization failures within a 15-minute timeframe. Administrators can lock or unlock local user accounts via the web interface.

  • Added password protection to the bootloader menu and command-line interfaces.

NOTE: The bootloader (GRUB) is not upgraded during an SSB version upgrade. The bootloader changes added in SSB version 7.2.0 use a feature which requires a minimum version of GRUB 2.02. If the initial version of your SSB installation uses a GRUB version older than 2.02, then the upgrade will not be possible.

To resolve this issue, install a new version of SSB and transfer the logspace and configuration data from your current SSB installation.

  • Starting from this release, you must activate the secondary node of an SSB cluster at the end of a HA SSB cluster upgrade process.

Deprecated features

The following is a list of features that are no longer supported starting with SSB 7.2.0.

Caution:

Starting from 01 March 2021, SSB version 5 LTS is not supported anymore.

CAUTION: Before upgrading to SSB version 7.2.0 in High Availability (HA) mode, ensure that the nodes have already been restarted since the last upgrade. Otherwise, you have to restart the nodes before upgrading SSB to version 7.2.0.
