Safeguard for Sudo 7.1.1 - Administration Guide

Before you upgrade

Because the Safeguard 7.1.1 original platform installer packages do not provide an automated rollback script, One Identity highly recommends that you back up important data such as your license, pm.settings file, policy, and log files before you attempt to upgrade your existing Safeguard policy servers.

To install Safeguard 7.1.1, change to the directory where the install package is located for your platform and run the package installer. See Installing the Safeguard packages for details about how to install the Safeguard for Sudo software.

Upgrading Safeguard packages

Safeguard has the following three packages:

• Server (qpm-server)
• PM Agent (qpm-agent) - Used by Privilege Manager for Unix only
• Sudo Plugin (qpm-plugin) - Used by Safeguard for Sudo only

These packages are mutually exclusive, that is, you can only install one of these packages on a host at any given time.

Upgrading the server package

To upgrade the server package

1. Change to the directory containing the qpm-server package for your specific platform. For example, on a 64-bit Red Hat Linux system, run:

   # cd server/linux-x86_64

2. Run the platform-specific installer. For example, run:

   # rpm –-upgrade qpm-server-*.rpm

Upgrading the Sudo Plugin package

To upgrade the Sudo Plugin package

1. Change to the directory containing the qpm-plugin package for your specific platform. For example, on a 64-bit Red Hat Linux 5 system, run:

   # cd agent/linux-x86_64

2. Run the platform-specific installer. For example, run:

   # rpm –-upgrade qpm-plugin*.rpm
