It is possible to assign a linked mailbox to an enabled Active Directory account? (4284748)

The issue is regarding the behavior of Identity Manager (1IM) when trying to change an attribute of Linked Mailbox.

SCENARIO: Two domains, one with logon accounts (named A) and one with resources (named B) where Linked Mailboxes reside.

By default, the accounts in domain B are created disabled.

In this case, accounts in domain B are enabled because they are synchronized with Azure AD.

BEHAVIOUR:

- When trying to change an attribute of Linked Mailbox with account in domain B enabled.

- 1IM generates an error, because by default wants account in domain B disabled.

Is there a workaround to bypass the check of user account status (enabled/disabled)?

Because the user account that is created in the Exchange forest is disabled when creating a linked mailbox, the user doesn't use the user logon name to sign into the linked mailbox.  This is the way Microsoft handle linked mailboxes.
