Changes to workflows should work similar to changes to processes. For example, changes to processes do not affect running process instances, however changes to approval workflows do affect running workflow instances.
Generally there is a desire for versioning of workflows, e.g. is there any way to modify a workflow without resetting the escalation calculations within that workflow?
The Development team has acknowledged enhancement request #27143 and implemented this with version 8.0. There are two additional configuration parameters:
The options ABORT, CONTINUE and RESET control the behaviour when approval workflows are changed or the assignment is changed for an attestation policy.
