When attempting to connect to an IBM DB2 target system using the ADO.Net generic connector, the provisioning and synchronization jobs end with the following error:
Error connecting system (Generic database connector)!
DistributionConnector: Error connecting the system.
[System.NullReferenceException] Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Deprecated feature CData ADO.Net provider
Due to change request number 463969, connecting using the CData ADO.Net provider for an generic database was deprecated. This meant that an administrator would not be able to connect to a target system such as IBM DB2 using the CData provider as this is no longer supported. To get around this issue the IBM supported DLLs for ADO.Net needed to be installed in the installation directory on the job server. The files were IBM.Data.DB2.dll and the entire contents of the CLI directory.
Please see the following guide from IBM for more information - IBM Data Server Provider for .NET
